Our Story

From Lisbon to Dublin...

It all began in Lisbon. Venturing the seven-hilled city that comprises Portugal’s capital, climbing steep cobbled streets under white-domed cathedrals, marveling at pink and indigo tiled buildings, and uncovering secret side alleyways- we found something special. At every corner, the city of Lisbon offers something quite magical, bohemian and mouth-watering not seen anywhere else in Europe. The food. Its hard to imagine that locals get used to eating eclectic sandwiches, fresh seafood, crispy pastéis de natas and juicy meats every day. We thought that these delicacies on offer in the city deserve to be enjoyed outside of the capital, so we have brought them home to Dublin for you to enjoy. Come visit us on our first pastelaria on Andrew Street, dedicated to bringing you the best in Portuguese cuisine.

Our Inspiration

From the colourful tiles to the blue of a sparkling wide river eclipsing the city. The speed of a tram car sailing down narrow streets to the smell of freshly baked pastries. The city of Lisbon has inspired every step of our journey from the food to the decor. The history of the city is also entwined with its tasty offerings, like Pastéis de Belém. It was Catholic monks who first invented the famous pastéis de natas tarts, and later sold their secret recipe to this pastelaria in 1834- from which we also derive inspiration for our Lisboa.

Our Sandwiches

We have re-created the staple and unique sandwiches on offer in Portugal's capital. Fan favourites include the Francesinha, hailing originally from Porto, dubbed “the hangover cure of the century” the meat-feast layers ham, sausage, chorizo and steak, covered entirely with melted cheese and topped with a secret tomato and beery sauce. In Lisboa on Andrew Street, you’ll also find the Bifana, a Portuguese staple: a sourdough bread hosting thin layers of pork marinated and simmered in a peppery tomato sauce. And of course, the lunch time favourite, Frango Piri Piri chicken roll with tomato and lettuce and a spicy mayo finish.

Our Pastries

Of course- we have the famous pastéis de natas- crispy puff pastry enclosing a gooey vanilla custardy bite with original, chocolate, raspberry, blueberry and coffee flavours with vegan options available too. We also have more Portuguese treats like Queques (filled muffins in a range of flavours), Bolas de Berlim (large donuts filled with custard, raspberry jam and whipped cream), Biscoitos (giant cookies) and gateaux slices. These alongside sausage rolls (vegan options available), savoury pastries and croissants.
